Sir Robert Borden 5 years old.
Early Life
Sir Robert Borden was born in Grand Pré, Nova Scotia on June 26, 1854. He lived on his great-grandfather's land which was a farming community. Robert was educated at his local school, Acacia Villa Academy. He enjoyed playing outside or with his toys because there were no electronics at the time.
Before Robert became the prime minister, he taught for five years in Nova Scotia and New Jersey at private academies. His opportunities were not very good because he did not have a university education. Borden then decided to pursue a law career. He did not expect to ever be the Prime Minister of Canada, but he enjoyed helping out the world and making it a better place. Robert was not a very good public speaker, but he thought political life was a responsibility for successful men. The Tupper family convinced him to run for election and he succeeded and became the leader of the conservatives in 1901.
